Step-by-Step: Biodynamic Fish Farming

A unique biodynamic course delivered at the only biodynamic fish farm in the UK, in partnership with the Biodynamic Association.

The Step-by-Step fish farm course is an introduction to biodynamic fish farming. The course would suit those wishing to learn about the different aspects of the fish farm, on living water, biodynamic methods and the brown trout we farm. The new course will be held once a month on a Saturday. The course content is drawn from our rich Ruskin Mill Trust biodynamic training that has been on offer for several years to staff, guests, volunteers and biodynamic trainees.

At the end of this course

Participants will:

  • Understand the basic principles, intentions and methods of RMT’s biodynamic approach to farming brown trout

Faculty

Matt Vidal, DTTLS, Fisheries Management L3 Dip., fish farm manager at Ruskin Mill College Biodynamic Fish Farm

“I have over 28 years’ experience of fisheries management, fish farming and lecturing within the fish industry and further education sector. Obtaining a fisheries management qualification led me from a boyhood hobby to a career within the industry, and I have combined that with education for the last 16 years, teaching at all levels to age 16 years and above. I enjoyed ten years teaching from entry level to foundation degrees within an agricultural college, and I have been the fish farm manager at Ruskin Mill College for the past six years, teaching students and training a variety of staff, apprentices and volunteers.”
