Step-by-Step Gardening:
A biodynamic gardening course in partnership with the Biodynamic Association

Step-by-Step is an introduction to Biodynamic Gardening, which has enabled many people across the UK to learn and put into practice principles of biodynamics in their own gardens, benefitting both person and planet. The new course will be held once a month on a Saturday. The course content is drawn from our rich Ruskin Mill Trust BD training that has been on offer for several years to staff, guests, volunteers and BD apprentices.

A longitudinal study by Coventry University researched with the course participants has shown that:

In all years and at all locations, the Step-by-Step Biodynamic Gardening course was very well received by the delegates and the course clearly provided a very positive learning experience for those taking part… the delegates reported improved understanding of both the theory and practice of BD gardening, referring the positive experiences of learning about the physical, cosmic and spiritual dimensions of the approach and increased confidence in how to put the theory into practice. The delegates also had very positive views on the course, referring to the content, the structure, the locations, the course tutors, the delivery, and the group dynamics of the course.

Learning aims

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand the principles, intentions and basic methods of the
biodynamic approach in the small garden setting

  • Have a basic understanding of interactions in the natural world,
including soil, plant, animal, human being and cosmos
